Homes are always evolving with new styles and functionality. Let's get some ideas by looking at new kitchen design trends for 2016.

Two toned kitchen cabinets

Keep upper cabinets neutral or white and then go for a darker and deeper stain color on the bottom.

Use outdoor fabric indoors

Recover your kitchen chairs using a durable outdoor fabric. Great for high traffic areas and many new outdoor fabrics are hard to tell from indoor fabrics.

Appliances in colored stainless steel

Shiny silver stainless steel isn't the only option anymore. Black stainless steel appliances are more popular than ever. If you're not into dark metal, check out bronze finishes as well.

Deep drawers in the kitchen

Deep kitchen drawers are a great option and some remodelers are opting to do away with some lower cabinets altogether, and using deep drawers instead. Dividers can help you organize pots and pans by size, and full extension drawer glides make it a breeze to take full advantage of all that space.

Islands with everything

Kitchen islands are not just great at providing more workspace. Add prep sinks, seating and deep storage and take full advantage of it.

No upper kitchen cabinets

For a streamlined look that will make your kitchen feel immediately larger, do away with upper cabinets. Add some open shelving and plenty of lower cabinets and drawers.

Mixed materials

Use mixed materials for your countertops and backsplashes. Don't be afraid to combine tile and butcher block, or granite. Sometimes safe can be a bit boring, so don't be afraid to be creative with your design combinations.

White kitchens with pizzazz

White kitchen with white walls and white counters are still popular, but they can be a bit sterile. Add some colorful details to add pizzazz, using unique tile or colorful bookcases.
