Are you considering a small kitchen remodel? Whether you are doing a complete kitchen cabinet remodel, or just revamping the existing space, here are a few tips that can help maximize the smaller space.

Color: White or other light colors reflect light and make a room look larger. Take advantage of this by using lighter colors on your cabinet, counter tops, walls and appliances. Try to use a single tone. An abrupt change in color causes stops for the eye, breaking up the space and making it appear smaller. If a single color tone bores you, try adding interest by using texture. Let in the Light: Light makes even small spaces open and cheerful, whereas a dark small space can feel very cave-like and claustrophobic. Choose to have a window if at all possible, even if it means giving up a little cabinet space. Or add a skylight. Island: In a small kitchen remodel, counter space is usually at a premium. If you have room, try adding an island, even a portable one that can be pushed out of the way when not in use. Open or Glass Cabinets: Having just one or two open or glass-fronted cabinets can add a feeling of depth to a small space.  Also consider making use of the entire floor to ceiling space for your cabinets. Organizers: Under-cabinet organizers can help you use up otherwise overlooked space. Consider an under-cabinet spice rack. Also a built-in microwave can be a great counter space saver. Maximize Storage and Minimize Clutter: Its even more important to have great storage in  small kitchen remodel, as clutter will make the space seem smaller and more cramped. Only items that you use every day should be allowed to take up valuable small kitchen counter space. If you have an attached dining room, adding a floor to ceiling cabinet to use as a pantry or china storage in there may help free up kitchen space. Remodel Bling: A smaller area can have its advantages when doing a small kitchen remodel. First, it can save you money since a larger space could easily quadruple the materials costs. Second, since you’ll need less square footage on your material, you can more easily afford to upgrade some of your material choices. With a smaller kitchen space, its sometimes easier to go for the bling.
